01 · BEFORE TRAVEL
Do not book the shortest possible trip
Your clinic should first explain the expected clinical sequence, how many appointments are planned and how much time is reserved for post-operative review. Flight and hotel choices should fit around that schedule.
A remote discussion can help identify obvious issues, but it cannot confirm bone, gum health, bite or clinical safety. Keep bookings flexible enough to accommodate a revised plan after in-person assessment.
Standard policies may exclude planned medical or dental treatment and related complications. Read the policy terms and disclose the purpose of travel where required.
02 · INITIAL INFORMATION
Prepare a useful remote review
Clear information allows a more meaningful first conversation, although any view remains provisional. Gather the following:
- Your main dental concerns and priorities
- A complete list of medicines and medical conditions
- Smoking, vaping and nicotine use
- Previous implant, gum or jaw treatment
- Clear front and side smile photographs
- A recent panoramic X-ray if you already have one
- Details of previous reactions or dental anxiety
Do not stop prescribed medicine or change your medical care based on online advice. The dental clinician may need information from your GP or specialist before treatment.
03 · ISTANBUL VISIT ONE
Assessment, surgery and review
Your first appointment should confirm identity, medical history, expectations and consent. Clinical examination and 3D imaging may confirm the proposed plan or show that a different approach is safer.
Diagnostics and final planning
Examination, imaging, records and discussion of the confirmed plan, alternatives, costs and risks.
Clinical treatment
Surgery follows the agreed plan. A temporary restoration may be connected when clinically appropriate.
Post-operative review
Healing, bite, bridge stability, cleaning and medication instructions are checked before departure.
04 · HEALING AT HOME
Protect the temporary phase
Follow the diet, hygiene and medication instructions provided for your case. A temporary bridge can feel solid before the implants have finished integrating, so avoid assuming that comfort means normal chewing forces are safe.
Keep a written contact route for routine questions and urgent concerns. If a temporary tooth chips or a bridge feels mobile, contact the treating team promptly and arrange local assessment where advised.
05 · ISTANBUL VISIT TWO
The final restorative phase
After healing is assessed, the team may take new scans or impressions and records of the bite. Try-in stages can be used to assess tooth position, speech, lip support, appearance and cleaning access.
Do not rush the final approval because of a flight. Your itinerary should leave realistic time for adjustments and a final review before departure.

07 · BACK IN THE UK
Build local maintenance into the plan
Full-arch implant treatment requires regular professional care. Before travelling, identify a UK dentist or hygienist willing to help monitor your general oral health and clean the restoration. Not every practice services every implant system.
Take home the implant system, component details, relevant imaging, treatment summary, bridge material and recommended maintenance schedule. These records can be important if local care or repair is needed.
08 · SAFETY NET
Know when to seek urgent help
Follow the specific emergency instructions from your treating clinician. Seek prompt professional assessment for symptoms such as uncontrolled bleeding, breathing or swallowing difficulty, rapidly increasing swelling, fever, severe or worsening pain, persistent numbness, trauma, or significant bridge movement.
Do not wait for an international reply when you need urgent local medical or dental care. Contact emergency services or an appropriate local provider and then update the Istanbul team.
