THE TREATMENT CONCEPT

What are All on Four
dental implants?

All on Four dental implants replace a complete upper or lower arch with a bridge fixed to four strategically planned implants. Two front implants are commonly more upright while the posterior implants may be angled to use available bone. Position, bone, restorative space, hygiene access and bite all matter more than the name alone.

  • Fixed in the mouth—not removed by the patient
  • May support temporary teeth early when clinically safe
  • Requires daily cleaning underneath the bridge
  • Needs professional reviews and long-term maintenance

01What are All on Four dental implants?

All on Four dental implants—also written as All-on-4 or All on 4 implants—are a full-arch treatment concept in which a fixed bridge is supported by four strategically placed implants. They may be considered when most or all teeth in one jaw are missing or have a poor long-term prognosis. A clinical examination and 3D imaging are required before suitability can be confirmed.

02Are the teeth fitted on the same day?

A fixed temporary bridge may sometimes be fitted soon after implant placement when implant stability, bone quality, bite and general health allow. It should never be promised before assessment. The definitive bridge is normally made after a period of healing.

03Are All on Four dental implants removable like dentures?

No. A full-arch implant bridge is fixed to implants and is not removed by the patient. A conventional denture rests on the gums and is removable. Fixed bridges still require careful cleaning beneath the restoration and regular professional maintenance.

04How many visits to Istanbul are usually needed?

Many full-arch treatment plans involve two visits: one for assessment, surgery and a temporary restoration, and another after healing for the final bridge. Additional visits or a different sequence may be needed depending on extractions, grafting, healing and restorative complexity.

05How long is the healing period?

Healing time is individual and depends on implant stability, bone, general health and the treatment plan. The implants need time to integrate with the jaw before the final bridge is loaded as planned. Your clinician should give you an individual timeline rather than a universal promise.

06Can everyone have All-on-4 implants?

No. Active gum disease, uncontrolled medical conditions, unsuitable bone, some medicines, smoking and an inability to maintain good oral hygiene may change or prevent treatment. Alternatives should be discussed where All-on-4 is not appropriate.
